Hey WCC, Aimee here!

Is anyone else out there as clumsy as me? I’m pretty sure that I’ve taken 1st place with The Most Run-ins To Inanimate Objects award this week. Mind you, it’s only Wednesday.

Every day this week I have either hit my shin, thigh, arm, shoulder, hip, and practically every part of my body on something. There’s not a section of my body that does not have a black and blue lump on it!

How embarrassing is this! And not to mention painful…

I’m sitting here at my desk this morning with my leg propped up on an open drawer with an icepack. I wish I had an icepack for my arm as well. And possibly even for my head. I am exhausted this morning and it‘s leading to a headache!

I’m sure that you all have been there, stayed up late the night before and now you are at the office all day long and just craving that pillow under your head.

Luckily for me though, we have a Hydro-Massage heated waterbed here at the office so probably within the next 10 minutes or so I’ll go take a nap on there…. Just kidding, Dr. Lou and Laurie. Sort of.

What I really need though is to get an adjustment. With working two jobs 7 days a week I tend to spoil myself and at least get checked every day that I work at WCC. But I feel like I’ve been out of sorts the last few days (hence running into anything and everything). So by getting an adjustment, it will straighten out my alignment and help me with my balance.

It will also turn the “power on” and get my energy flowing naturally instead of the “second cup of coffee” approach.

The thing that I love most about a chiropractic adjustment is not only the fact that it helps me to feel better but it is NATURALLY helping me feel better. I’m not polluting my body with medicine and drugs; all of that is synthetic and terrible for my body.

Chiropractic releases the interference from your Nervous System and allows your body to work to it’s full potential!!

ie: allowing your brain to communicate to all of your organs, decreasing your blood pressure, energizing your body, and giving yourself an overall feeling of well-being!

Have you gotten your adjustment today?

It’s Monday morning, yet again!

Thing’s have been slightly crazy around the office, typical Monday mayhem. Our lunch break that is coming up is much needed that’s for sure!

Today, one of my favorite Wellness Partner’s came in, little miss Kalli! She is 3 years old and full of love and is all about her adorable “queen bee” status. That goes for a literal term today, since she was dressed up as a baby butterfly!

After her adjustment, she was sitting with me at my desk while her grandmother was getting an adjustment, coloring a Dora The Explorer picture. A few minutes later, her grandmother comes up and is ready to leave so Kalli requests that I personally hold her coloring sheet and take it to the car for her. (“Hey Ms. Aimee, can you carry this? I need to leave so you can bring it to the car for me.”)

Like I said, “queen bee.”

Of course I couldn’t say no to that sweet face, so I hold her hand out the door and walk her and her picture to the chariot that awaits in the parking lot.

When the picture is safely in the car she gives me a big hug and says “you’re riding with us!”

Unfortunately I had to go back to work so I had to tell her ’maybe next time.’ She gives me a huge smile and waves “okay, bye, Ms. Aimee!!”

Children are a huge part of our wellness practice, and they just make our day’s so much better! After all the technical errors this morning with our printer on the fritz and slow computer problems, she made my morning!

It is so important to let your children get adjusted on a regular basis. Just because they are young doesn’t mean they can’t benefit from the MANY successes of chiropractic care.

Do you know why you have that hip/back pain (or any kind of pain) when your older? It’s because you’ve been growing out of alignment your entire life, ultimately leading to your issues now. So starting chiropractic at a young age is the key to a pain free, properly functioning, healthy body!!

And here at WCC we have the wonderful privilege to adjust newborns, just hours after birth! Our Wellness Partners know and understand the benefits of chiropractic care and want what’s best for their babies. They know that subluxations can happen during the birthing process so it’s always good to have them checked whether or not an adjustment is needed at that time.

Hey! Aimee here.

You know, being a Chiropractic Assistant can be so rewarding. On a daily basis you get to see people change their lives for the better. You see their health increase and the excitement in their eyes on how they have FINALLY found the missing piece to their health.

Being in charge of marketing, I get to spread the word of chiropractic all day long! How lucky am I??

But every once in a while everyone here at WCC needs to take a step back and regroup. We need to remind ourselves that we are a healing office, and there are some of us who are not as fortunate in health.

This morning, a dear patient of ours who has come in every day since 2001 was the barer of bad news. His daughter has lost the battle with cancer and is now on life support.

When I heard this, this morning, it brought tears to my eyes. I have known him since I was a little girl (just like most of our Wellness Partners) so he feels like family to me. I ran over to him and gave him a hug, the only thing I knew I could do... there were no words. So I said a silent prayer for him, his daughter, and their families.

Being a CA, I get to know our Wellness Partners on a personal level, I know most everything about them: family, where they have lived, vacations they go on, where they work, etc. Which is such a nice thing (definitely not the experience you get when you go to a MD's office.) So when they tell you sad personal stories of theirs, it's hard not to feel their pain.

But something that I learned a while back, you can't hold on to those feelings. "Leave it at the door." Don't carry the sad, angry, discouraging feelings around with you all day, leave it at the door before you step foot into the office. Because every Wellness Partner who walks through that door deserves your ear-to-ear smile and happiest welcome.

So that's what I'm sharing with you all today. Just leave it at the door. If something bad happens, don't let it get you down, don't harbor those feelings to the point where it will rub off on others and make them, in turn, have a bad day. Just let it go. It will make you feel better!

And, if when you get home you still have those feelings in the back of your mind, you can address them at that point. Take your anger out by writing it down, or talking to your spouse, or calling a friend.

Hello!

My name is Aimee, and this is my personal story as a Chiropractic Assistant.

I am 23 years old and have never been vaccinated. Yes, never. I have never had a flu shot, or any other kind of "booster shot" they have out there. And believe it or not, I am a healthy, happy, young woman.

My whole life I have felt that I had to hide the fact of who I was, because it was so unheard of to not be a vaccinated child, and it was so "unnatural," and "not safe" that I was ashamed to tell people and have to defend myself to the public.

But now that I am older, I voice my opinion quite a bit on politics, and now healthcare. My opinions are strong and I want others to see my side of the story. I want them to know where I'm coming from, to see things through my eyes.

I work for a local wellness chiropractic office in Canton, Georgia. The purpose of our office is to support each individual in achieving their optimum heath and educate them so they may understand health and chiropractic and in turn, educate others. So in order to educate the public, I am starting a blog.

Here at Wellness Chiropractic Center (or WCC) we are a very family oriented practice, and we care so much for our Wellness Partners (patients) and we will do just about anything to help someone achieve health without the need for drugs, medicine and surgeries.

When I say that we are a family oriented practice, I mean that. Dr.'s Lou and Laurie have been married for 35 years (as of yesterday actually!) and have been in practice for over 33 years in the Canton area. Our office manager has been with us for 17 years this May, and I have been here since December of 2013... but, Dr.'s Lou and Laurie have been adjusting me since I was born. Within hours of my birth actually. And they are my parents.

So it is very suiting that I work here now, right?

I have been under chiropractic care my whole life. I have only been to the medical doctor a handful of times as a last resort, and as I said previously, I have never been vaccinated.

The whole "anti-vaccine movement" controversy and the angry outbursts from the pro vaccine crowd I hear is absolutely appalling. People are acting as if this is a new thing. No, this has been going on for years (since the late 1940's when the first vaccinations were given,) but finally it is clicking with others and so they are taking a stance and spreading the word of the dangers of vaccinations.

And for me, it never fails to have "hate-mail" after I voice my opinion. It's been going on since I was old enough to vote and I took advantage of my right to free speech, trying to educate the "one sided" to try to get through to them about other matters our country is under. It has been going on millions of years with religion, and it is going on now with the "anti-vaccination movement."

Hate-mail.

There is going to be hate no matter where you go. People are going to disagree with you, and you know what? That's okay. To me, as long as I put something out there, it will at least get through to SOMEONE. And that right there is why I felt the need to start this blog today.

Earlier this afternoon I had shared an article on our WCC Facebook Page concerning the dangers of vaccines. Afterwards I decided to also share that same post on my personal account. And low and behold, here came the hate-mail. I was practically ambushed by medically-minded individuals, personal friends of mine, who know nothing about the human body and the way it works. Shoving biased information down my throat and rudely stating "this is false" "you have no idea what you are talking about" "chiropractors are not doctors" "the human body cannot heal itself" "vaccines are how people survive" "anti-vaccinated people are a threat to the vaccinated." I could go on and on.

The feedback I was getting was simply appalling. And not one person was on my side. Well, that is until a text come through to my phone to say that "Oh my gosh! Those people on your Facebook!! Ughh they make me mad."

It was nice to finally have the support, but it brought the idea to my head that they are not comfortable about voicing their opinion with the public. They are scared about what others are going to think, they are worried they will have these people attack them as they attacked me, or, if they do publicly voice their agreement with me, that they won't have enough information to back their opinion's up. And both of those options made me sad.

My goal here is to educate the public enough to give them the courage to voice their opinion on matters that concern your health, and to reach others who are stuck in limbo on not knowing what to do- vaccinate or not to vaccinate.

But going back to my Facebook post, I finally chose to take it down because I was becoming so heated and angry over this, and that is just silly to do that to myself. I don't need that stress in my life. I posted this out of awareness and concern for my friends, a simple way to let them know that they should do their own research on the subject, and here I am being attacked for it.

I knew the debate I was in the middle of was going no where, those individuals are so medically-minded that there was no hope in ever getting through to them. So I took the post down and took a few deep breaths to relieve my stress.

The next thing I know I get a message in my inbox from another friend ('oh great... here we go..' I thought.)

She proceed to tell me how she was thankful for the posts that I share and write because "it helped me to decide to stop vaccinating and rethinking doctors and medicine... and I really need to come to your parents office."

That one simple message turned my whole afternoon around. I was beginning to think that I would be in a bad mood for the rest of my day and I will be mulling over what I should have said to those people on my Facebook, and now, all of those heated feelings had left and joy took it's place.

After all the "hate-mail" I received, then came the silver lining. I had reached someone.

I had gotten through to at least one person!

And that's all it takes. That's all I wanted- to get through to at least one person. It all seemed worth it in the end.

And that is my vision. To spread the word of chiropractic, get the information out there that THERE IS ANOTHER WAY. That you don't have to take prescription pill after superscription pill. That you don't need to rely on drugs to keep your body going. That you don't have to follow the crowd and vaccinate because that's all you've ever known.

Well here I am, telling you the side that you've never heard before. There IS another way. There IS a silver lining. You just have to open your eyes to see it.
